Review of "Get him to the Greek"

An exhilarating ride with chest aching laughs, a comedy that breaks the mold.

i didn't really know much about Russell brand other than his role in Forgetting Sarah Marshall where he serenaded the classic "inside of you". I had doubts about the movie before i stepped foot into the theater, but i was pleasantly surprised to find the most original and entertaining comedy of the year so far. There has been regurgitation of the same material in Hollywood lately so to get an original story with some new talent was a needed change of pace. The movie was a gamble becuase it was hinging on Jonah Hill, and Brand delivering epic performances, but they seemed to live up to the hype along with a superb performance by Sean P. Diddy Combs as Sergio. Sergio (P. Diddy) is hilarious as a cutthroat all about the Benjamin's executive who just wants to turn a quick profit.

What the deal is?
Comedy can be hit or miss sometimes, but Get him to the Greek was banging out some laugh out loud moments for most of the film. Sometimes the comedy was over the top and raunchy, yet i would still find myself laughing at Aaron (Hill) puking all over himself, taking shots of adrenaline, and trying to keep up with the outrageous Aldous Snow. The movie takes place in Hollywood where Aaron (Hill) and his girlfriend live together and are perusing their careers. Aaron gets his big break when his idea for a tribute concert sparks an interest in Sergio who controls the Label. He Gives Aaron the opportunity to prove himself by going to London to escort the exiled snow to perform on good morning America, and eventually at the Greek Theater. The movie then chronicles the adventures of the unlikely duo and brings the audience along for the ride.

Is it worth it to buy a movie ticket?

While the film may not win any Oscars it stands out among a lot of garbage summer movies which were supposed to be blockbusters. This is a great date night flick and there will be a lot of laughs and good times in the film. If your looking for a grade A story this might not be your cup of tea, however; The story is creative, original, and boasts a relatively fresh face in Russell Brand which should at least warrant a look at the movie. Overall i haven't seen a comedy since super bad, or the Hangover that made me laugh out loud like i did, so it was $9.50 well spent and I'm definitely interested to see more of Brands work.
